RE: turn in your knives!

Oh come on now.... This is ridiculous....

I don't have time to check out the new law right now, but are they expecting chef's knives, steak knives and butter
knives to be turned in along with Machetes, swords, etc as well?

What in the world are you going to spread Marmite with now? Well, as a young child I used to use a spoon to spread
jam on my toast, I suppose a spoon could be used to spread butter and Marmite with as well....

I'm waiting for the next "amnesty program" "turn in your pointed sticks now!" then it will be "turn in your
un-ripened bananas now!" What after that? "turn in your fists now!" "turn in your stones, your dirt, your salt, your
pepper, ugh.... Unbelievable....

Does anyone actually think this is a GOOD thing to do?

Not sure what you'll cut your food with, but do it anyway. Question
is, why an "increasing menace of knife crime"?!

Turn in your knives to police

24 May 2006

A clear cut message from the knife amnesty - hand your knife in to the
police now.

The first national knife amnesty for over 10 years begins today as
people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are encouraged to hand
over their knives to their local police.

From 24 May and 30 June, you will be able to hand in any knife to your
local police force and not face any further action. Every knife handed
in will be a knife that then can't be used in crime.

The programme will be similar to the firearms amnesty held three years
ago in which 44,000 weapons were voluntarily handed in to police.
Knife crime menace

Every police force in England and Wales will take part in the National
Knife Amnesty, with Scotland organising its own amnesty. The amnesty
is part of a wider government crackdown to tackle the increasing
menace of knife crime.

Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker said, "The message of this campaign
is simple - if you think you're protecting yourself by carrying a
knife, you're not. Too many people think that carrying a knife will
make them safer but the reality is quite the opposite as they run the
real risk of having the knife turned back on them."
