It seems like it would be impossible to track anything back to a single machine without a database of existing machines. If it was possible, I'm sure the scores of macro virus writers would have been caught long ago.

In earlier versions of Office, Word documents were tagged with a GUID - a unique identifier that allowed one to track a word document back to a specific machine. It appears to be removed from Word 2002 documents. Does this ability to associate a document to a particular machine exist in newer versions of Word? The authors are easy enough to track, but I need to track to a specific machine, if possible.
