Yup, I am a former McAfee employee, got the letter on Monday. They
offer the customary two years of free Equifax Credit Watch, all I have
to do is give a lot of personal info to Equifax. Do I trust Equifax?

They already know everything about you. In fact, they already know you
sent this email.

I know that was a joke, but it reminds me of a story <FunSec Groans>

It took equifax over two years to report that I had bought a house
here in Atlanta (where they are based), but when I tried to contact
Them about it via phone, They said I could only communicate with Them
via mail from my address on file: The World Cafe in Venice, CA.

Strange thing is, I never lived at the world cafe, only drank there a
lot in 1997 (buy two beers, get free internet access, which was pretty
cool in 1997).

Moral of the story: Equifax only finds out about stuff months to years
after it actually happens. Also, someone has to report it to them for
them to have it in your DB entry. If no one tells them, they just dont
know about it. Data mining or collaboration with the Feds may change
this, but that hasnt happened yet TMK,
