Starting with the fact that the totalled car is worth a million bucks, to the likelihood that someone survived a 100+MPH crash with only a cut lip,
The fact that pieces were apparently spread over several hundred yards shows why he survived - kinetic energy was shed over quite an area, and except for the part where the tail end met a post and separated from the car, not much was lost at any given instant. He may have dumped a lot of speed spinning and only been doing 50 or 60 when he nailed the post.... Now if that guy had nailed the pole head on at speed, and all the kinetic energy departed at one instant, the guy would have been a grease puddle.
