Not sure how many McAfee disciples are on this list, but this is the *fun* one where we all chuckle, right? My usual concern with antivirus products is their detection and speed for deploying new patterns/dat files. But here's an instance where I am assisting a friend who cannot seem to get rid of the McAfee product and its accompanying recurring billing. Perhaps McAfee has learned from CoolWebSearch and Troj_Dloader, etc, and has figured out how to always keep a customer regardless of the customer's wishes.
You should email McAfee (not their technical people, this isn't a technical issue, you need to aim at their sales, marketing or accounting people) and tell them simply to cancel the recurring billing. If anyone bills your credit card without your authorisation, you should contact your bank and ask for them to do a "chargeback". This causes quite a lot of difficulty to the people who billed your card, especially if it happens a lot. _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
