CBC is our national broadcaster in Canada. "The Current" is a morning radio
program of current affairs and short documentaries. It starts off with a short
piece of satire, usually politically based, of a news item, with a short (usually one
line) commentary added. The identity of the person who reads this (with his
voice digitally altered) is not widely known, he is simply known as "The Voice."

I've recently looked into the archives for the show, and they go back to the
program's inception, as does The Voice. Most of the shows have Real Audio clips,
including most of the pieces from The Voice.

The archives are at http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/logs.html.

Here are some examples:

The Current for Show December 9, 2002

It's Monday December 9th, a day of full disclosure in Baghdad.

This past weekend Iraq finally submitted a report to the UN Security Council that
detailed the full extent of its weapon's program. Though Iraq denied it had any
Weapons of Mass Destruction, it did admit to be in the possession of quite a few
"Weapons of Mild Irritation". Currently, the Iraqi arsenal includes one Polaroid of
Saddam Hussein in leather chaps and cod-piece, thousands of jars of way-too-tart
marmalade, and an entire battalion of small moustachioed men with wet fingers
ready to stick in people's ears.

The Current for Show December 10, 2002

It's Tuesday December 10th, and Brian Mulroney and George Bush Sr. are both in
Washington to mark the 10th anniversary of NAFTA.

The traditional 10-year anniversary gift between trade partners is tin.

Currently, American officials are planning a 300% anti-dumping tariff on
Canadian tin imports and a flat-out embargo on those Roots Aspin Bomber
jackets. Happy Anniversary!
