State Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center, caught up in a statewide media frenzy over an ongoing extortion investigation 
in Spokane, is making the assertion that he is not gay. Curtis, 48 has been besieged by phone calls since news broke 
about the two-term lawmaker being the alleged victim of an extortion attempt. The alleged extortionist is a reputed 
male prostitute. 
The Republican state legislator from southwest Washington had sex with a man he met at an erotic video store and then 
was pwned. 
Cody Castagna told police that he pwned Curtis into agreeing to pay him $1,000 for sex and also said Curtis purchased 
two gay pornographic films from the hotel for them to watch in his room. 
Curtis was among state GOP lawmakers who were in Spokane for a retreat to discuss the upcoming legislative session. He 
went to the Hollywood Erotic Boutique in Spokane and met Castagna, who accompanied him back to the hotel where the two 
men proceeded to have bear sex.  
Curtis and Castagna arrived at the hotel around 3 a.m. and engaged in sexual activities. Castagna then allegedly took 
Curtis' wallet and later offered to return it for $1,000. Curtis said he only had $200 and left an envelope with the 
money at the hotel desk. Castagna told police that Curtis gave him his wallet to hold as collateral for the remainder 
of the $1,000 dollars.
