"I don't care if it's a good idea. Do it or I'll find somebody for your job that *will* do it". You refuse, you get fired. Pretty tough to make too much of a stand under those conditions. Yes, if enough admins did it, it *might* change for the better. But in the meantime, most sysadmins I've known just aren't the stuff martyrs are made of.
