The original poster mentioned NetBEUI. If the legacy NetBEUI protocol is really installed on the system, certain Microsoft sharing attempts wouldbe expected to bypass IP (and therefore all IP VPNs) entirely. Right?
NetBEUI is a L2 protocol .. not routable. It would depend on the VPN type though .. if using something like L2TP you could still VPN the traffic to the remote side.
