I have to second everything here that Simon just mentioned,
I'm in the UK as well, and well my heart really goes out to anyone
who is anywhere near hurricane Rita, and as Simon said, we have miserable weather
here,
but nothing at all like that.

So take it easy all, and good luck.

We are very lucky in the UK, although we occasionally have miserable
weather to very, very rarely have leathal weather. So I agree, you
don't need to hear it from us !

After seeing the devestation in New Orelans, I'd like to wish you all
the very best of luck for the next few days, and hope that you all
come out unscathed.

Now can we go back to security please ?

Thanks for playing. I work for a billion dollar company in Texas. I
think I know about the weather. Someone in the UK doesn't need to tell
me how I could might get 25 inches of rain.

It is on my list as we speak :)
There are over 500 people subscribed to the list.
I don't believe it's a waste of time to discuss politics.
Politics for many are a reason for malicious hacking. You
only need to look at defacements and you'll see political
messages from hacker boys and girls.

You have alot of free time for someone who is preparing for
the hurricane, which is going to hit land in twenty four
hours time. The mass of car queues has already started, as
refugees of Houston and Texas and surrounding areas flee
inland, away from the reach of tidal surges.

New Orleans is already affected by the rain fall as many
predict the flood barriers only recently repaired with sand
bags could be further breached by the forces of nature.

Internet infrustructure in the area could be affected, but
none so far have reported problems with their network.

There isn't alot can be done, unless you already had
emergency facilities already hired out in other places in the
United States.

At the moment its all about waiting it out. The real problems
will come later once damage reports start coming in to
response centers.

However I would be interested to know what emergency plans
you yourself are making. I don't see what can be done in
these difficult circumstances, until you know what the
criteria is going to be. Apart from move everything. And why
move anything until you know you need too. Spend the money
anyway, just incase?

Thanks,

Hey n3td3v, keep the political propaganda on your list. I
am sure the
"500" people will be glad to waste their time with all of
that. Some
of us have a hurricane to deal with. Thanks.
