If you feel like blocking such people, that is your decision. However, we uber-smart individuals (the typical FD poster) need someplace to let out our anger at our fellow, less intelligent human beings, and because we have the privacy of the internet, FD is the perfect place for bashing "noobs". If your reputation becomes good enough, you can make people feel bad quite effectively ;-)

I was hoping that they would have something to contribute. I fear I am
going to need to filter them if this behavior continues.

J A's behavior and the other person who adressed him are not typical for
this list. Just killfile them and any others you find objectionable.
They are the excpetions rather than the rule.

No. Not really. FD is the place where ego's rule and manners are
unknown. Think UseNet circa 1995.

If these bother you then you will likely not find this a very
comforting home.

Yes.

Then you don't get out much, do you?

No - you and me are real persons. Eric Scher is a wad of dick cheese.

Quite. Thanks for asking.

Hrmmm... Thousands? I don't know that FD has that kind of penetration
anymore - but *maybe*.

It the kind of world we're already IN peer. Dig it or check out, right?

I don't think so.

Words are, unfortunately, all we have (for now anyway. I'm working on
the rest though). So we might as weell use them ;-)

I like the idea of belief in drug-prohibition as a religion in that it
is a strongly held belief based on grossly insufficient evidence and
bolstered by faith born of intuitions flowing from the very beliefs
they are intended to support.
