RE: Destroying PCs remotely?

Interesting topic though, is it possible to
*destroy* computers remotely at all?
Destroy the hardware, that is.

In the case of a rack *full* of Dell servers,
I imagine that turning all the fans on full
power would generate enough thrust to push
the whole thing across the machine room floor...
:)

In the old days there were the 'washing machine' hard drives
that one could, apparently, 'walk' across the floor by
forcing repeated head seeks.

Subject: [Full-disclosure] Destroying PCs remotely?

"Senator Orrin Hatch, a Republican representing Utah, asked technology
chiefs about whether they could develop ways to damage or destroy the
computers hearing in Washington on Tuesday"

Whilst this seems a little off-topic, having the US
government blowing up
your PC (without "due process" by the looks of it) makes
other security
holes pale into insignificance.

What was that? It was the US constitution
saying bye-bye...
