Hello Mr Jim,

We have gone abt brainstorming and finding out whether really our IDS
system needs integration with any existing NMS which is being used by the
organisations....

Referrin to what you say, IDS and NMS technologies have two different
purposes and objectives. whether or not to mingle the two, might not be
correct to ask but what moght be more important to have IDS and NMS
co-operate..what I mean by this is NMS and IDS might work cohesively in an
environment they are deployed, so that IDS might be for an NMS like any
other NMS agent, while for IDS, a NMS solution could be like another
management Console to which it can communicate with.

Other issues like configuring, controlling an IDS from a NMS may not sound
good enough.

Several experts in this list have proposed existing features like event
aggregatorm SIMS, and many other products what work in not exactly same
but in a similar approach.

"Defense in Depth" as you pointed out very correctly seems to be perfect
to monitor and centrally baselining our network....

Thanks Jim,

Regards,
