Didn't mom supply such wording when we were kids; Just because <insert a name here> wants to jump off the bridge, does that mean you need to join them?
Funny you should mention that, Ron, as, when I first saw Jeffrey's comments, that was the *first* thing that ran through my mind. When I get the kind of question to which Jeffrey refers, I usually do insert something like "You know, when I was a child, and wanted to do something inadvisable and my parents wouldn't let me, and I complained ``But so-and-so does it!,'' I'd usually get back ``And if so-and-so jumps off a bridge, are you going to, too?''" The lesson taught me by that simple exchange, repeatedly ;), has stood me in good stead all these years. Thanks, mom! Thanks, dad!
