Were syn cookies removed from the 2.2.x kernels and only now returning??

They certainly were part of the older 2.0.x kernels:

CONFIG_SYN_COOKIES=y

or have there been added enhancments?

Thanks,

Ron DuFresne

 This is a new feature for kernel 2.2.17.
SYN cookies firewalling. You can use it to protect a whole net
to withstand the SYN flooding attack. It contains a kernel
patch and a administration tool.
