Well that depends on a few things: - How much you already know - How much time you're willing to invest preping - What you mean by the "first time" :) Honestly if you've chosen FW-1, and you don't want to/can't get the training then either: 1) Find a consultant to help (check references!!!!!!) or 2) Buy the Nokia Firewall-1 Appliance #2 still requires you to design your security policy and write good rules, but it makes installation of the hardware/software much easier. Depending on how much you already know about security and firewalls in general, you may or may not write good rules. Regardless, I'd recommend Lance Spitzner's excellent FW-1/security site: http://www.enteract.com/~lspitz/pubs.html as a good starting point. -- Aaron Turner aturner () vicinity com 650.237.0300 x252 Security Engineer Vicinity Corp. Is it possible to install a Checkpoint firwall w/o formal training? If so, what are some of the resources like books, etc that can be used to do it right the first time. Any kind of help will be highly appreciated. thanks NS
