A brief check of a couple underground sites reveals there are a couple of hacks that can use AOL Instant Messenger (also other ICQ-type apps) as a conduit for trojans. IMHO, it is interesting technology that is not ready for prime time. neil lehrer wrote:
hi, what is your opinion on letting aol and/or aol instant messenger through a firewall. please assume there is, at least, some business justification for its use. thanks. an email cc would be appreciated. -- regards +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + Neil Lehrer + + International Broadcasting Bureau + System Development Division + + voice 202 619-2524 + fax 202 619-3576 + nlehrer () ibb gov + + " is this crisis an opportunity or just + another grab the fire extinguisher moment?" + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ - [To unsubscribe, send mail to majordomo () lists gnac net with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
