My suggestion...

Do the connection via the web-server instead.. you can write a simple byte
pusher to connect to the internal webserver if you want. That way you
contrain the address space a fair bit. You could also have the webserver
encrypt the data before sending it - or have it open a SSL connection to
the internal webserver...
