If you plan on keeping the Exchange server within your MS domain that scenerio could cause problems. I could not see putting our Exchange server out in our DMZ because if it is compromised then the whole domain is open. At least I know what ports I have open on our Cisco PIX and I can take additional measures to monitor those.
