If anyone is interested in having a look/play with a syslogd which has
amongst its features TCP connections supporting SSL and hash log files
for integrity, have a look at:

http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~avalon/nsyslog.html

In terms of other features, it contains mostly a superset of traditional
syslogd features found in the various Unix installations today (except for
those using ssyslogd) and should perform reliably if used simply to replace
syslogd (well, the only problems I'm aware of are with Linux).
