Some VPN products, such as TimeStep's PERMIT/Client, allow you to block direct Internet access once the VPN connection is established. If the user dials their ISP, establishes a VPN connection to the office and then tries to browse the web, all traffic can be forced to go thru the VPN tunnel to the office, and then only allowed out to the Internet is it meets the allowed traffic requirements of in-house usage. Do you think an Internet VPN connection should always go through some kind of access control (eg. through a firewall) ?? However, there are certain protocols which cannot proxy through firewall. -- Ellis Luk ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
