There's an extensive write-up about PPTP security.  You will also want to
check out
the latest paper by Mudge and Schneier at

http://www.counterpane.com/pptpv2-paper.html

Their conclusion is that the patches to PPTP improve a lot of the obvious
security
issues in the Microsoft implementation, but that it's still not good enough for
prime time.
