Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is currently searching for an Information Security Officer.  Please pass this

Information Security Officer

Helps ensure the existence of a highly secure technology environment for the institution and responsible for the 
overall development, implementation, and management of the Institute's information security strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Developing and refining information technology standards, procedures, and policies and implementing the necessary 
control mechanisms to ensure compliance to create a highly respected, robust Information Security Program for the 
Institute.

Developing and implementing standards and procedures for vulnerability assessments of campus technologies and enacting 
action plans to remove vulnerabilities.

Creating and implementing an institute-wide information technology awareness program.

Configuring, managing, and monitoring intrusion detection/prevention systems.

Conducting proactive information technology risk assessments throughout campus.

Knowing, understanding, and keeping pace with the current active IT threat profiles and
understand how these threats will impact the Institute.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises an Information Security Analyst. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the 
institute's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; 
planning, and assigning, work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and mentoring 
employees to encourage professional development and growth.  May be required
to supervise student workers or other staff.

Qualifications:

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver's license required; acceptable MVR (motor vehicle report) required.  Certified Information Systems 
Security Professional (CISSP) credentials desired.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline and 3 years of experience in information technology security 
or closely related discipline required.  A combination of education and relevant
experience may also be considered.  Demonstrated experience in supervision or leadership required.  Experience in a 
higher education environment, in the role of information security leadership, preferred.
