Workstation inventory/visual indicator on machines?

With fairly regular turnover, especially in our student employee populations, identifying high risk machines is an 
issue.  We have talked about putting colored dots on workstations to indicate a "stop and think" mentality.  Has anyone 
done this and is it beneficial?
