We use Sophos Endpoint on our University owned Macs and recommend Sophos to personally owned Macs.  I can’t speak to 
Avira as I haven’t used it, but we’ve been happy with Sophos.  While it’s not a perfect product, Sophos Support is 
great to work with and is very responsive to issues with the product.
