We are currently using Real’s Helix DNA for streaming media – there’s additional software ($++) to do the secure
repository that we don’t have.

We're looking into the same issue right now, so we haven't implemented anything, but Kaltura is looking pretty
attractive along the same lines:

I look forward to seeing what others have done.

Hello Colleagues,

I have been asked recently to research how other Universities and Colleges are addressing the increasing demand to
deliver quality and secure Streaming Video both internally and externally- perhaps a hosted service?

Further, on a different but related front, what system are you utilizing for a secure Media Storage Repository?

USF is looking, ideally, to find an integrated system to provide both functions, Media Storage Repository and a
Streaming Video server; however, we are not opposed to utilizing two different services.

I would like to invite you to share your challenges and successes; I look forward to your input.

Below are areas we hope a new solution may provide us:

1. A Media Repository graphical user interface (GUI) that provide

* the ability to share and repurpose video internally (up to multi gbs)
* a tagging feature, with multi layering labeling (e.g. Google Apps) with easy search functionality.
*       LDAP Integration

2. Streaming Video

Distribution:

a. supports a variety of devices:

b. mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, Android), desktop/laptop

c. Online programs

d. Marketing USF

e. Digital signage

Needs:

a. Improve the quality of video.

b. Scalability.

c. Cloud-based system.

d. Blackboard integration.

e. Secure.

f. Live Streaming

g. LDAP Integration

h. Bandwidth issues

i. Copyright policy

j. Reporting-analytics

k. Closed captioned

Thank you for your time. If you are at Security 2011 conference in San Antonio, perhaps we may even talk about this in
person too?

Sincerely,
-Nick
