The University of Texas at Arlington's Information Security Office has posted a new opening for an Information Security 
Analyst

Purpose of position:  To assist in the development, monitoring, and enforcement of policy and practice standards to 
ensure that UT Arlington's information resources are secure from unauthorized access, protected from inappropriate 
alteration, physically secure, and available to users in a timely fashion.

Essential functions:  Assist in the support of information security projects. Assist in the development, 
implementation, and updating of security policies and procedures. Support the handling, reporting, recording, and 
resolution of campus-wide security incidents. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of access 
control, data confidentiality, system integrity, system reliability, system audit and recovery methods and procedures. 
Support of security equipment to ensure proper operation, including but not limited to installation and upgrades. 
Support the development and implementation of security awareness training programs. Other functions as assigned.

Required qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field. 2 years experience in networks, 
databases, security, web development, or other related field. Applicants must include in their online resume the

Preferred qualifications:  Certifications related to the duties and responsibilities specified, including but not 
limited to CNA, CCNA, CISA, CISSP, MCSE, SSCP, and SANS GIAC. Experience with web development, scripting, and/or 
programming. Working, practical experience, with at least one of the following: Cisco Firewall Modules, TippingPoint 
IPS, Snort or Sourcefire IDS, Microsoft Forefront AntiVirus, EMC Configuresoft Configuration Management, PGP Whole Disk 
Encryption, Watchfire or IBM AppScan Application Scanner, Oracle, PeopleSoft, MySQL, SQL, LDAP, Kerberos, Active 
Directory, Apache, IIS, Nessus Vulnerability Scanner, Sendmail, IronPort, SMTP, SNMP, Perl, Unix Shell, C, C++, PHP, or 
Java. Experience with PeopleSoft Security, Student Administration, and Enterprise Portal. Excellent communication 
skills. Practical experience working with a vulnerability scanner. Team-oriented and self-motivated within a team 
environment.

Working conditions:  May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. 
Security Sensitive; criminal background check conducted.
