While this all might be interesting to lots of people here, this is a
*public* list with searchable archives. Similar information posted to
another public list a couple years ago garnered some (what I'll call)
negative publicity for the institutions that shared.

OK, instead of filling up everybody's inbox with little messages, if anyone wants to send the following info to me,
I'll post a summary the first of next week:

# of DMCA take-down complaints so far in 2009
# of students
# of students in on-campus housing
actions taken to block limit or shape P2P traffic
geographic region (I won't report school names unless you want me to, but it's interesting that most of the RIAA's
top 25 schools are in the East and that has always been a curiosity to me)

I think knowing the size of the schools would be a key item as well. We have 2,500 resident students, and 11,000
total students (who could potentially be using wireless for P2P). We don't block P2P. We use the Packetshaper to
limit P2P bandwidth, and the residence hall network overall during normal business hours. We have received about 120
DMCA complaints per year over the last two years.

well, If we're comparing tallies (which I think is interesting), we've received 4 today and 215 this year.

p.s. we've received 42 DMCA notices so far today.

We received about 20 around 11:30 this morning. The first this year.
