Help us alert the students on your campus about their chance to win cash, gain experience, and earn recognition with a poster or one short video! The EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force <http://dev.educause.edu/AboutTheTaskForce/1202/t_blank> , in cooperation with the ResearchChannel <http://www.researchchannel.org/prog/t_blank> and CyberWATCH <http://www.cyberwatchcenter.org/> , is conducting its third annual contest in search of computer security awareness posters and short videos developed by college students, for college students. The details: * We are seeking topical and effective posters and videos that explain computer security problems and specific actions that students can take to safeguard their computers or personal information. * Two categories of videos are being sought: two minutes or less for use in training or instruction, and 30-second public service announcements (PSAs). * Posters may be submitted separately or combined with a video for a "combined entry". * Deadline for submissions is April 30, 2009. (While a year way, this would allow students to work on an entry during the summer or for a professor to include it in course plans for the fall.) For the winners: * Cash prizes ($1,000, $800 and $400) will be awarded in each of the four categories (thanks to the co-sponsors, the National Cyber Security Alliance <http://www.staysafeonline.org/t_blank> (NCSA) and CyberWATCH <http://www.cyberwatchcenter.org/> ). * An opportunity for students to gain experience by developing creative and effective short videos or posters. * Winning entries also receive national exposure: exhibited on the ResearchChannel web site, heavily promoted during National Cyber Security Awareness month in October, and may be used in campus security awareness campaigns. How you can help: * Promote the contest by forwarding this message to any relevant mail lists or announcing in organizational newsletters. * Download and forward the flier, available from the contest website, www.educause.edu/SecurityVideoContest2009/ <http://www.educause.edu/SecurityVideoContest2009/> . * Use the other promotional materials on the web site that tells how to publicize the contest to both students and faculty. See the web site for contest rules, submission details and links to previous winners' videos. Additional inquiries can be directed to the Security Task Force staff at 202-872-4200 or e-mail, security-video () educause edu <mailto:security-video () educause edu> . Thank you for your help in this important effort. David Lyon EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force Awareness & Training Working Group
