We give the users a choice between guest and authenticated. Guest users are routed to a network effectively outside
the campus firewall as far aa their access is concerned. We are considering downgrading serivice to make authenticated
more attractive.

Subject: [SECURITY] Open/guest Wireless Campus Access

We would like to get an idea of how many institutions provide open/guest
wireless access.

. Is you wireless open and unrestricted campus-wide or do you only
provide open wireless to designated areas?

. What access restrictions and/or other security measures, if any,
are placed on the open wireless network?

I am especially interested to hear from VA State Institutions providing open
wireless access. I would like to initiate a small offline conversation
about open/guest access as it relates to COV-ITRM Standard SEC501-01.

I do welcome feedback from other institutions as well, especially with
respect to security measures implemented in open/guest wireless access and
technologies used for green space coverage.
