Another avenue is Facebook's PR people. Ask your PR department to contact their PR department and explain the situation to them. Nothing can put a screeching halt to something faster than the PR folks saying "This will not bode well for us in the public eye". We got Google hacked awhile back. Going thru the normal channels had no effect. One phone call from our PR guy to their PR dept and the information was off of Google before we knew it. ******************************************** Mike Maloney Sr. System Engineer Middlesex County College 2600 Woodbridge Avenue Edison, NJ 08818 Phone: 732-906-7754 Cell: 908-217-2086 Fax: 732-906-4266 Email: mmaloney () middlesexcc edu ******************************************** ________________________________ From: Tracy Mitrano [mailto:tbm3 () CORNELL EDU] Sent: Mon 1/14/2008 3:13 PM To: SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU Subject: Re: [SECURITY] Fraudulent Facebook Profile Folks might want to get in touch with Chris Kelly the Privacy Officer at: ckelly () facebook com On Jan 14, 2008, at 2:45 PM, Renaud, Robert wrote: Kees: We had a similar situation last year when a YouTube video portrayed Dickinson College in an embarrassing light. The page contains elements copied from the University's Faculty Profiles (which are only available via our Intranet), and advertises the individual in such a way that it could damage that person's individual integrity, as well as the University's good name. Unfortunately, reaching out to Facebook via their abuse@ email address did not solicit any reaction yet, and given the general buzz I do not expect to hear much back from that route either. Has anyone on this list ever handled a situation like this before? If so, how did you handle it? Any suggestions would be more than appreciated!
