I wonder is a service like Ruckus will actually have any impact on the number of DMCA notices we receive. My suspicion is it would not, but I'd love to hear I'm wrong. My guess is that there are plenty of options for listening to music on your computer, but what students want is being able to copy that music to their mp3 player. They also want to be able to do this for free, since their perceived competitors offer "free" downloads. Until you can make significant changes to the culture, whereas downloading material has a social stigma, "free" is going to trump a buck a song. -- Roger A.
