Just a clarification, as I wasn't terribly specific in my previous post, and I noticed people have linked to it. My fault: Etiolated.org covers known publicized breaches _specifically involving data loss of significance_. It does not cover defacements or other breaches, unless those involved data loss as well (social security numbers, school records, medical records, bank account numbers, credit cards, with names, addresses, etc.) Terribly sorry for the confusion!! Hey all, I started this project in my free time to satisfy my own curiosity and professional requirements, but realized that it might be useful to others in .EDU as well. http://www.etiolated.org It highlights all known publicized breaches since 2000 (.edu and everything else), and is based off the attrition.org DLDOS dataset. It's searchable, with a fairly sophisticated lucene based search engine, so, should be useful for research purposes or writing a report now and then about when department X shouldn't be using social security numbers any longer. I launched it about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully you find it useful. It's not affiliated with or endorsed by my employer in anyway. Nor is it commercial in any way shape or form. Just a side project.
