Educational Security Incidents 2006 Year in Review

Good Morning,

I just wanted to make a brief announcement  this morning. The Educational
Security Incidents (ESI) Year in Review - 2006 has been finalized and can be
found in pdf form here: http://www.adamdodge.com/esi/yir_2006

This document examines all of the information security incidents occurring
at colleges and universities around the world as reported in the news during
2006. Information in the Year in Review - 2006 is organized by Type of
Incident as well as Type of Information Exposed. In addition, the Year in
Review contains a print-out of all 2006 incidents contained on the ESI
website: http://www.adamdodge.com/esi

Here is just a sample of the information provided in the ESI Year in Review
- 2006:

- Total Number of Institutions Reporting a Breach: 65
- Total Number of Incidents: 83
- Total Number of Incidents by Type:
     - Theft: 26
     - Impersonation: 1
     - Loss: 3
     - Penetration: 33
     - Unauthorized Disclosure: 20
- Total Number of Records Exposed: 2,683,059
