We have used this facility for quite some time and have greatly reduced the loads on our entire mail system. The users do receive an appropriate response as we have fielded two queries about email not being accepted. In both cases it appears that the senders had misconfigured/unpatched systems that were being misused so we were able let them know they needed to sort that out. Mark. The NorthwesternUniversity Information Technology departmentwould like to solicit some feedback from anyone who has had experience working with Sophos Puremessage RBL functionality. Specifically, we are interested in your reactions to the auto-reply feature sent back to the ISP after Puremessage has determined that an email should be blocked due to the presence of the sender on the blocking list. In your experience, is this auto-reply functionality reliable and does a message reach the sender to inform them that the email messages never made it past the SMTP server to the intended recipients? Thanks for your feedback on this subject. Ron Blitz Technical Services Analyst NUIT-TSS-Consulting Services Northwestern University Office 847-467-5943
