IT Security: A Call to Action for the Education Community, 2006 The third annual K-20 IT security conference for education and IT professionals will be held in Fargo at the Ramada Plaza Suites on November 1 and 2, 2006. Sponsored by North Dakota State University (NDSU) Information Technology Services and EduTech, this conference will increase awareness of the associated risks of computer and network use in an academic setting with an emphasis on leadership and the end-users of technology. All educational IT leaders and IT staff, including those responsible for policy development in an academic setting, are invited to attend. This conference also offers an opportunity for IT personnel from the private sector, such as financial and medical institutions, to learn more about information security practices as well as policy development and enforcement. Featured sessions this year include Looking Forward: Overcoming Obstacles and Adversity in the World of IT Security; AUPs: Update, Enforce, & Survive; Microsoft Windows VISTA: Securing the Desktop; Information Safeguarding Panel; An Exercise in Ethical Hacking; Running a Server? How Does it Score on the Self Assessment Scorecard? Policy Development and Training; Incident Response; VoIP and Video End-point Security; and Risk Assessment. The conference will include presentations, panel discussions, information booths, and vendor visitation. The conference will be held at the Ramada Plaza & Suites and Convention Center in Fargo, November 1 and 2. The conference will run a full day on November 1 and from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on November 2. The cost for registration through September 15 is $95 per person; after Sept. 15, the cost of registration is $110. Two continental breakfasts, a lunch buffet, and an evening social are included with the registration fee.
