The SALSA-NetAuth working group is pleased to announce the availability
of the recent draft white paper "Strategies for Automating Network
Policy Enforcement."

The document is available under the 'Draft Documents' section of the
NetAuth working group web page at:

http://security.internet2.edu/netauth/#Docs

This document provides a summary of some approaches for automating
technical policy enforcement as a condition for network access in
colleges and universities. These approaches allow for host isolation
into specialized networks, captive-portal-like remediation systems, and
other forms of conditional network access.

The document was produced by the SALSA-NetAuth working group and edited
by Eric Gauthier, of Boston University, and Phil Rodrigues, of New York
University. Assistance in producing the document was also provided by
The ResNet Symposium. This document is an early deliverable of the
NetAuth working group. Additional documents will be produced in the near
future.

The NetAuth working group invites comment on the paper and participation
in the working group. Information about the working group is available at:

The NetAuth working group was created in May 2004 by SALSA, which is
affiliated with the EDUCAUSE / Internet2 Computer and Network Security
Task Force.

SALSA is an oversight group consisting of technical representatives from
the higher education community who advise on leading edge technology
issues, provide prioritization, and set directions in the security
space. SALSA is affiliated with the EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and
Network Security Task Force, but is independent of both organizations.
