Re: Original CD required for critical MS vulnerability

For many folks at universities their install of Office was from a Network
Drive of some flavor (Netware here at JMU). If this is the case and you
still are connected to that network drive the installer will not ask for the
media. During the install a registry key is set to the install location.
The updater inspects this key and uses it to try to locate the original
media.

This would explain why some people are asked for media, and others were not.

I was not as my install was from a NAL object.

This may clear the confusion a little.....

I just ran the update on my machine and it did not ask me for the CD.

I just did the update successfully and it never prompted me for the CD.

Hmm.. I did it yesterday and it made me enter my Office XP Pro and Visio
Pro CDs. I wonder if they've changed it?
