Don't know that you would exactly call it a conference but several institutions in Virginia do meet monthly to discuss security issues. We have put together a web site and that might give you some helpful information. The address is: http://www.vascan.org. It is called the Virginia Alliance for Secure Computing and Networking and we have been working closely with our State officials. The University of Virginia at one time held a "security week" on their campus and other institutions are invitied to attend sessions. I really don't know if that is still being held or not, but you might contact Shirley Payne ( payne () virginia edu) for more information. Higher education institutions in Virginia also have an organization called the Association of Collegiate Computing Services of Virginia (or ACCS). Budget problems in the State have kept them from having their regular meeting this year, but they recently held a one-day meeting in Richmond. Their web site is http://accs.virginia.edu/index.html and you can find information there about the meeting and the association. Finally, we have a security site at Virginia Tech ( http://security.vt.edu) that you might find helpful. Randy Marchany is a part of that organization and has held several meeting here on campus. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: Bruhn, Mark S. Can someone please point me to the web pages for any state higher education security conferences (or conferences for large university systems) that you know about where you are? I have information about Wisconsin's LockDown03, PSU's Annual Security Conference, and California's Secure IT Conference. I thought one was held in Virginia, but I can find information about that. Others? We're beginning to plan the first Annual Indiana Higher Education Chief Information Officer Summit, the first year of which will be "Security Issues, Programs, and Plans." We're looking for good examples. (For those of you at Indiana campuses: plans are to hold this at IUPUI, sometime in February 2004. Target audience is CIOs and security professionals/practitioners. Look for initial publicity in in August.) Thanks, M -- Mark S.
