The department says the information was released when an employee emailed unencrypted documents to their personal email accounts. Information released by the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System said Wednesday that the information includes the veteran's full name, last four digits of their Social Security number and a medical diagnosis. The agency is sending letters to all who might be affected of the potential disclosure of their information. The Veteran's Administration says it is investigating and taking steps to prevent future incidents.
