Ame-Cherie Denise Thomas, 34, of Birmingham was sentenced to two years in prison on one count of aggravated identity theft. She also must serve five additional months plus five months home confinement for one count of misusing a Social Security number... Authorities said Thomas worked in the Birmingham Teleservice Center, answering calls from the public to the Social Security Administration's customer service number. In that job, she had access to databases. In April 2009, she used that database to obtain a Social Security number, which she gave to a friend to falsify a credit application to Tom Williams Imports. The friend was seeking a loan of more than $38,000 to buy a 2008 BMW 328I.
