University Emails Breach Data Protection Act

The University of Manchester published the personal data of 1700 students, 
including information relating to individual disabilities, in an email 
attachment that was sent to 469 students.  The ICO has taken action 
resulting in the university signing a formal undertaking to ensure 
appropriate training and safeguards are in place to avoid inappropriate 
transfer and accidental loss or destruction of personal data.  This is a 
stark reminder to all institutions that security must be a priority in 
processing personal data, particularly where this data is sensitive, and 
access must be restricted to authorised persons only.  Such a breach could
