From the Associated Press
October 19, 2006 DENVER Information in an attack ad run by Rep. Bob Beauprez against his Democratic opponent for governor was obtained from a federal database available only for law enforcement, Colorado authorities said Wednesday. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation launched a criminal investigation into the ad after candidate Bill Ritter's campaign raised the possibility that the database was illegally accessed because the information could not be verified through public records. Bureau Director Robert Cantwell said the information came from the National Crime Information Center, a federal database available only to law enforcement officials. < - > http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-adflap19oct19,1,6736697 .story?coll=la-headlines-nation _______________________________________________ Dataloss Mailing List (dataloss () attrition org) http://attrition.org/dataloss Tracking more than 137 million compromised records in 430 incidents over 6 years.
