By mentinoing out-of-date code, you are implying that the above methods are not still applicable. I guess the enforcement branch of infosec is pretty useless if things that are light-years out of date are still used to control 1/[4/5] of Internet connected workstation pc's.... If mainstream tools are available, maybe more things will be done to make them less viable... Me?
