But Buffy wasn't using OTR, the Off-The-Record protocol. It gives you total
privacy in your IM. [Currently only supported for GAIM, ports welcomed]

With OTR, Buffy can get:

- Encryption 
- Authentication 
- Perfect forward secrecy

and last but not least:

- Deniability
