-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Interesting problem: WindowsNT 4.0 with Service Pack 2 and Exchange C/S 4.0 with SP3 uninstalled fails to backup. We found something odd here: If you have WindowsNT 4.0 with SP2 installed and decide you no longer want to use Microsoft Exchange Clinet Server (with SP3 in our case) and you un-install it, backups performed using NTBackup will fail. We think we narrowed it down to the following: When Exchange 4.0 c/s installs it modifies NTBackup to allow NTBackup to backup exchange's information. When Exchange is uninstalled, it DOES NOT remove the hook into NTBackup or replace the modified NTBackup with an original (as it should). This causes NTBackup to generate an exception error each time it runs. Solution: Er.. Well we haven't tried it, but you could probably just re-install NTBackup. - -- Dave Beck Software Systems Developer Technology Group, Inc.
