I'd bet your shell is dying. You are very likely overlowing an internal buffer holding the characters of the current working directory. To find out for certain, log in once, then start a second shell by typing your shell name. When you try traversing the directories and the subshell dies, you ought to be returned to your log in shell. Colin jenkins () dpw com
