Not sure which model switch you have, but MD5 encrypted passwords on the Cisco devices use the Unix crypt() scheme which uses a salt. Check your config, and if your hash begins with $1$ then a salt was used. On 2/18/11 11:13 AM, "César García" <celord () gmail com> wrote:
Hello all, this is my first question here, I have a cisco switch where my passwords are encrypted with MD5, I wonder if somebody knows if this encryptions uses an iterative hashing or salting for them to be less susceptible to rainbow table attack.
