Re: Check if root is allowed on SSH server - remotely?

Hello,

Some old SSH services are vulnerable to timing attacks, which allow
users identification.
You can read some articles on that topic and make the research.

If the root login is disabled and the service is vulnerable to a
timing attack, then most probably the response time between a root
login attempt and attempt with an invalid user would be the same. Your
problem would be to find an available username and measure that login
attempt response time with the root one seeking for difference.

Cheers,
Ventsi

Hi guys ,

is there any special way I could check remotely if the ROOT login is allowed
or not in SSH server?
I dont have any account on this server to login to the server and check the
config files.
Im just curious is there any way I could remotely find out if the root is
allowed or not allowed?

Thanks ...guys
