DNS resolves domain names to I.P addresses and NetBIOS resolves
NetBIOS names to 1.P addresses, the how is it possible that DNS is an
application layer protocol and NetBIOS is a session layer API?

Also, is NetBIOS a protocol too? The article at Technet (
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727013.aspx ) says that
NetBIOS is a protocol too. And what is NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT)? I
know it's a protocol but in which layer of OSI? And how does NetBT
relates to TCP/IP?
